What You Need to Know
What is a Fanlisting?
A fanlisting is a place on the internet where fans of a particular thing, be it a movie, a book, a band, an artist etc etc can be listed to show their support and enthusiasm. It's just a fun thing for fans to do. Anyone can start a fanlist, technically, but the only lists that are the real deal are those sanctioned by
The Fanlistings.org - which this one is!
A bit of Info on XTC Please
This list is devoted to a duo of clever musicians from Swindon, England that go by the name of XTC. They have nothing to do with drugs or psychedelia, so if you've come here looking for information on pretty little pills this is the wrong place (though I was amused by all the pics of aforementioned pills that came up on my google search on the band).
Obviously, I love XTC. I've been a devoted fan since the early 90s, though the band got its start in the late 70s - better late than never I suppose. The band started out as a quartet until recently sizing down to just the two major players - guitarist/vocalist Andy Partridge and bassist/vocalist Colin Moulding. Anyone lucky enough to discover this band will tell you their knack for a melody and superb pop craftmanship - not to mention smart lyrical turns of phrase - is the big draw to this band.
They haven't enjoyed much commercial success, but many fans seem to prefer it that way. Perhaps part of the reason widespread notoriety has eluded them is due to the fact that they stopped touring in 1982, reportedly because Andy Partridge suffers from a great deal of stagefright.
I've just touched the basics here. If you want to know the true history/discography of XTC, follow the links in the
XTC etc section.
