What Do You Call That Noise That You Put On?

The English pop band XTC posed just that question on their debut album over two decades ago, and it's a query that has been paraphrased one way or another by those who have witnessed the band's sound oozing from my stereo speakers.
My answer, of course, is an attempt to explain the wondrous sound that is the music of XTC. Yet, its better experienced than explained. Since you're reading this, I can only assume that you know what I mean. Afterall, you have come to the fanlisting for the brilliant XTC!
